以「暫時這樣」一句日常用語作為我們的展覽名稱，不免會令人想像此次展覽可能是我們對於自身態度的誠實自白，並且帶著一點妥協甚至放棄的樣子，採取了消極姿態。事實上，當試著察看自身所處的生活現實時，或許都能察覺得到那些包圍著我們的外部世界，老早是以「暫時這樣」的邏輯運作著。「暫時」所提供的快速行事能達致效率上的要求，並且在空間實踐上舖造出一整片光滑表面以確保裡頭的事物能不斷地汰換，其所顯現的變動性格──相對於永久穩固──正是一種對於「活性」的持續保證，因此或許我們可以說，在當代的空間實踐裡，「暫時性」從未消失過。另外，採取了這種「暫時這樣」的姿態也可以是一種自保的求生術，當所欲對象無法被完成時，「沒魚蝦也好」成為了一種規避焦慮的臨時替代品，它說服了我們：目前雖然不是但也未必相差甚遠。而回到我們的創作自身，以某種空間風景作為主要對象的創作上，「暫時這樣」所試圖劃開的正是一道對於現實空間的感知間隙，在一個短暫的片面裡，我們將自身對於現實風景的抵抗之姿甚至烏托邦綺想書寫於其中。

如同「當代」一字，藉由將Contemporary還原其拼字結構為「Con，一起的、共同的、研讀」與「Temporary，暫時的、臨時事物」，我們所能理解到的，即是每個被取樣的整體性暫時切片，又或者可以換個方式說，在當代，「暫時這樣」的邏輯與流動事物正充斥於我們的整體現實中。因此，除了將「暫時這樣」視為一種消極姿態之外，對於這樣的展名我們欲呈現的會是更接近於「暫時」一詞所給出的時態指涉以及其本身的事實面向，即在暫時性片段中，一份巨型計劃、一個轉進方向、一次引信點燃，注視它直至抵達某個未來之前。

Con-temporary, it is going to be temporarily like this. As a show title, people might suppose the exhibition is an honest confession of our attitude, the passive position with pale compromise or even ready to give up. In fact, when we try to observe the reality life which we have been facing everyday, perhaps we will notice that the world which surrounds us is actually working under the condition of “temporary”. The idea of temporary persuades us to solve the problem faster to meet the efficiency requirement; it also leads us to create a flat surface in the spatial practice so as to replace things continuously. The endless variation thus becomes a relative eternity which is a promise to “be alive”. In other words, in contemporary spatial practice, the idea of being temporary has always been there. Meanwhile, the status of being temporary is also a survival kit. When desire cannot be fulfilled, plan B becomes a temporary consolation to avoid becoming anxious. It convinces us that—we are not there yet but we are already close to it. In our artwork creation, we’ve been focusing on spatial scene creating. Being temporary is a strategy to create a lacuna of sensation in physical space. By being temporary, we weave our will of defeating the current reality into the imagination of utopia.

The word” Contemporary” could be divided into two parts. Con: with, together, or to study in order to know. Temporary: lasting for a time only, not permanent. What we can understand from contemporary is only a sample sliced out from the whole. Or we can also say that, in contemporary, the flowing time and things of “being temporary” has stuffed our whole reality life. Rather than the superficial understanding of title as a passive position, what we want to present through a title like this is the un-lasting time and variable fact which “temporary?” refers to. The status of being temporary is a beginning of a huge project, a turning point, a light up of fuse, and we’ll be watching until it reaches a certain future.
